Finding an acne treatment that works can be a difficult thing. The simple fact is that most acne treatments don’t work, or even the prescription ones take weeks to show any results, even months, and then you see only small results. In the meantime some have reported these supposed acne treatments making acne worse. So how do you find an acne treatment that works?
Well clinical studies are always helpful. But you have to actually read the studies, read what they say. The fact is that yes retinol has been proven. But it took about 12 weeks to show even small results. If you are hoping to eliminate a zit for the prom or something, that probably isn’t going to work, and also if you want an acne treatment that works without side effects, well this definitely isn’t the one.
However, if you read a review on something called bentonite clay, you find that it naturally detoxifies the skin. It works differently and apparently gets more at the root of something that may contribute to acne. Likewise, if you want an acne treatment that works, there are various other ingredients such as tea tree oil for example. Tea tree oil has been found to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide, but without the nasty side effects. So obviously these are all things to take into consideration when determining if you can find an acne treatment that works.
And finally, you have to consider your skin type. This takes experimentation and just that. Nothing works for everybody unfortunately. It’s a simple fact of life. And unfortunately, even though some work without side effects, which is something you can always determine unless you have certain allergies. However, as far as finding an acne treatment that works, yes you should look for the right clinical studies. But you have to see on an individual basis what works for you.
